二兎を追う者は一兎をも得ず (Nito o oumono wa itto omo ezu)


兎 is pronounced as “と/to” and it means “usagi” (= hares or rabbits). “If you ran after two hares, you will catch neither. This is a metaphor from Rome and this means, “If you get greedy and try to do two things at once, you will fall at both.”
